Week 4: My Body

SEPTEMBER 1ST TO 5TH
“MY BODY- “MI CUERPO”
Hello Dears Parents!
Welcome to our fourth week of school.  This week children will learn everything about human body..
Vocabulary:
We are start learning the vowels in Spanish.  This week we are on the letter Oo. Ex: oso, ojo, ola, oreja.
We will also learn the name of our body parts:  
cabeza-head
brazos-arms
manos-hands
piernas-legs
SPECIAL ACTIVITIES THIS WEEK:
Children are learning reading behaviors in class.  This week, we are emphasizing on the title of the story.

HOMEWORK
We are sending homework on Wednesday.  Remember to take your child’s notebook. Thank you for bringing it back on Monday.  


SPECIAL NOTES
It is important that you read to your children at home daily, remember that you can have access to books at any public library.

Please do not forget to label your child's belongings.
Please check if your child has dirty clothes every day.
Bring your child weather appropriate extra clothing to have in his/her cubby.

Week 3: My school and me

SCHOOL YEAR WEEK 3
AUGUST 25TH TO 29TH 2014
“MY SCHOOL AND ME”- “MI ESCUELA Y YO”
Hello Dears Parents!
During this week we will continue capturing a snapshot of each student, collecting evidence (e.g. work samples or observations) about what children can say, do, make or write across five areas of development and learning.
Vocabulary:
Mi salon- My classroom
La maestra-The teacher
Mis amigos-My friends
Mi cubiculo-My cubicle   
La pizarra-The board
La mesa-The table
La silla-The chair
Los juguetes-The Toys
Los libros-The books
La computadora-The computer
Los marcadores-The markers
El Lapiz-The pencil
El papel-The paper
La tijera-The scissors
Las crayolas-The crayons
El pegamento-The Glue
We will start learning the vowels in Spanish. This week is the turn for letter Ii. Like indio, insect, iglu.
SPECIAL ACTIVITIES THIS WEEK:
Children are learning how to work in centers and how to follow classroom rules and procedures, for example sharing with others, washing their hands, learning new songs and learning the routine.


HOMEWORK
We are sending home on Wednesday. Remember to take your child’s notebook. This is a great opportunity to spend some one on one time with your child, to know what they are doing in class, and for them to learn how to focus on different tasks little by little. Our homework assignments will take no longer then 10-15 minutes and their purpose is for our children to start getting in the habit of practicing what they are learning in class.

We will need:
● 5 passport size pictures of your child.
● 2 family pictures.
● Sun block and bug repellent non-aerosol with corresponding permit forms.
● Blanket (which you need to take home, to wash every Friday and bring back the next Monday).
● Journal every day this is the main mean of communication between us.
● 1 set of extra weather appropriate clothing (sock, t-shirt, short or jeans, underwear ).
All items must be label with your child’s name.
-Please, don’t bring toy in the classroom.

The Circus!!

SUMMER CAMP WEEK 8
AUGUST 4TH  TO 8TH 2014
“EL CIRCO”- “THE CIRCUS”
Dear Parents,
The theme of the week will be "THE CIRCUS"! We will be talking about the characters in a circus and especially the clowns. We will close a this week saying farewell to this amazing summer camp!

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES THIS WEEK:
Monday:
We will talk about circus animals, mention their jobs and talk about other circus characters.
Tuesday:
Payasin the clown will bring surprises for the kids!
Wednesday:
We will talk about wizards and work with lion’s art and make wizard hats.
Thursday:
Dress as clowns and participate in the Sff! circus. YAY!
Friday:
Summer farewell party and make a drawing of circus and clowns.
SPECIAL NOTES:
  • Any parents interested in participating in our activities, please coordinate with administration and teachers! The children will have great fun!
  • Remember Monday afternoons and Thursday mornings are our splash days and we must bring appropriate clothing and shoes. Our kids love this activity and they are always ready to participate.
  • Tuesday some of our children have soccer class in the morning.
  • Wednesday we will have our music class.
WEEKLY REMINDERS:
Please bring in Sunscreen for you children and please do not forget to fill out the Sunscreen Application.  Please make sure that the expiration date is no earlier than October 2014
Please make sure your child has weather appropriate extra clothing in    their cubbies!!
Please label all your child’s belongings.
