Week 26: Knowing the Plants

“Conociendo las plantas  –  Knowing the plants“
Dear parents,
Welcome to February and to a new and interesting learning week.  This month, children will learn about plants. My goal is for them to learn to identify their main parts of the plants, their growth process, and how can we protect them in our daily routine.   

Song of the Month: “Cancion de las Plantitas”  
Un día en el parque jugando estaba
Con mis amigos de SFF
Mire hacia el suelo, vi algo pequeño
La semillita yo vi pasar
Yo la tome con mucho cuidado
Y en una taza con amor la sembré

Y muchas flores yo vi nacer

Por un mundo mejor cuida la naturaleza.

Week 25: Animals

Week 25 from: January 26th to 30th, 2015
“Knowing the animals” – “Conociendo los animales”
Hello Dear Parents!
Welcome to a new week. For this week, the children will learn about the "Life Cycle of a Frog" and they will continue to expand their knowledge about the different groups of animals, including their characteristics, behaviors, habitats, and what they need to live.  The students will also learn about endangered species. Lastly, they will continue to expand their Spanish vocabulary concerning animals while learning how to respect and care for them.
Song of the Month: “Animales de la Granja”  
Mi abuelita tiene, una granja bella
Con animalitos y flores muy bellas,
Ahora este jueguito de imitar sonidos
Tú lo haces primero y luego tu amiguito (x2)
El perrito ladra (sonido)
El gato maúlla (sonido)
El gallito canta (sonido)
La vaca estornuda (sonido)
El conejo salta
El caballo trota
Y los pajaritos la canción entonan (x2).

On January 30th, our 2 Year-Old through Pre-K students are invited to come along to the Spanish for fun! Durham Life and Science Museum field trip. The school will remain open for those that do not participate in the trip.

Week 24: Reptiles

“Knowing the reptiles” – “Conociendo los reptiles”
Hello dear parents!
Welcome to a new week where we will learn about reptiles.  My goal is that children will be able to identify their principal characteristics and learn how to organize animals by families and attributes such as size or number of feet as they play.

Los animales que hay en la selva,
Tu los vas a repetir,
Algunos gordos otros muy altos
Igual nos vamos a diverter.
El elefante que esta muy grande.
Y la jirafa que alta es
Y el monito que salta y salta

Es un leon enojon
Es la serpiente que es muy decente
Y la Tortuga come lechuga
Y el raton (donde esta el raton?)
Ya se escondio
